A Choice Of Colours

The video clip posted by Lee Hsien Loong on his Facebook page of the Indranee Rajah response comes on right after Low Thia Khiang's speech. For a guy whose delivery in dialect is more powerful than in Queen's English, this is one command performance that resonates. The keystone of his message, and probably why it was clipped, is this reminder:
"If the people continue to support a government party that uses high-handed tactics against its political opponents, we are endorsing a bullying political culture. If the people support a governing party that uses governmental resources, including civil servants, to serve its partisan goals, we are condoning the abuse of political power as an acceptable culture."

The mainstream media refers to it as a "heated debate", but if you watch the lacklustre retort of Rajah, it comes across as a tired response, with the speaker looking, and articulating, a decade older than her actual years. You would be tired too, repeating the unchanging rote of a programmed automaton. If her demeanour spells her party's enthusiasm for "putting Singapore at the heart of what we do", it explains the lethargic efforts at addressing the housing, transport and foreign invasion issues.

Anyone playing the devil's advocate could easily twist Low's words, and shame him for blaming the electorate for the current state of affairs. Not unlike blaming the people of Germany for the undulating support of a little corporal from Bavaria during WWII. Maybe not that easy, since criticism is now seeping in from unlikely circles.

Inderjit Singh (Ang Mo Kio GRC) is best remembered for taking a leak in the little boys' room to avoid voting for the Population White Paper. This time round he decided to be conveniently overseas, when he posted "hard-hitting" comments on the President's Address:
"I encounter a fair number of residents who question the rationale of government policies. They feel the Government does not understand their needs and concerns but instead craft policy while seated in, what effectively seems like a different world, an ideal clean and sterile policy lab or ivory tower perched high up."

We wish he would give us more leaks, the types provided by a Edward Snowden or Julian Assange. That's the only way for folks to stop swallowing the blue pill, and start opting for the red one.

  1. Nah, wait long long. He is just wayanging.
    Actions louder than words.
Did he vote against white paper? Nope.
Just take his words with a pinch of salt, will you?

    1. Me thinks so too, Inderjit is just wayanging. Being coincidently absent on 2 occassions imply Inderjit cannot look LHL in the eye and wayang at the same time, in case he can't help laughing at his own antics.
Having said, I am pretty sure Inderjit would rather swap places with Davinder but I can't help thinking if Davinder advised our petty PM there is hardly any money to extract from a healthcare worker unless a new rule is introduced whereby lawsuit damages can be settled from CPF accounts.

  3. Spot on, Tattler. How did we come to this sorry mess? Do not blame all of the 60% who voted for them. Their reasons are as varied as their numbers. As Catherine Lim noted some time back, even mothers with civil service children are fearful to vote for the opposition in case their careers are affected. What about the 90,000 new citizens?. Professor Straughan, the former NMP, noted that they are likely to have voted for the PAP out of gratitude or fear. Even Ngiam Tong Dow appears to follow the dictum that silence is golden. Time for change.

  6. Fear: a distressing emotion induced by a threat perceived by living entities, which causes a change in brain and organ function and ultimately a change in behavior.

    1. I am convinced our incompetent PM is exhibiting FEAR, hence persisting with the lawsuit to avoid any kind of debate on how CPF, GIC and Temasek are managed. What do you think ?

    2. Well, methinks Roy might just have a way to get PM to open up our CPF accounts in court since his refusal for more damages is confirmed.

      I wish him luck.

Afterall, people like TT Durai, Renci & Kong Hee had successfully sued and won defamation suits. But in the end, justice prevailed and they are proven crooks.

  7. The leeder of the government party has openly said in a past rally how he will has to think of fixing the opposition, town councils under his party control sell town councils' financial software to related company (AIM) for token sum and faced with termination clause. Even small companies will not sell their financial software when it become obsolete, as they are important software required for upgrade, contain important and confidential information. As for Inderjit Singh and NMP Eugene Tan, they are losers and hipocrite , when what they said are not what they voted in the population white paper.

  8. What was Inderjit Singh talking about? Go to pinky's facebook and read for yourself. Everyone is singing praises and so supportive of the government policies. Things are hunky-dory dude. If there is anything worthy about Inderjit's comments, pinky is definitely not hearing it. He calls that "noise". Noise is not "constructive" you know.

  9. Never listen to words
    Watch what has been done

    Both can be very incongruous.

    1. Sometimes, even words and actions are unbearable to listen and watch.

The drummer has started the DRUMs-beats around the CPF and its eternal leader. This kind of people who leaked out of asylum also does not even need the blue or red pill. What they need is a good dose of psychotic pill to render them permanent coma.

When they can't attack the issue, they attack the people with loud DRUMS and loud suits from their lawyer.

  10. The people are tired and sick of the polarizing 'constructive vs destructive' 'right vs wrong' 'flawed vs unflawed' politics..stop all that bullshit LHL. What or how exactly is your politics constructed to help me retire with sufficient cash in hand, in good health and peace of mind about affordable healthcare, for my childrens' social mobility within the society, for jobs that are created for Singaporeans first as you extended to 67yo working age?!!! Dont even get me going about paying for better bus services when you have given from us $1.1 billion not too long ago when your services sucks..if comfort is only for the rich, then I can only conclude that discomfort is reserved only for the poor (according to PTC Gerard Ee)...you don't even have the smarts to run this country flawlessly, you want to lead us to a "smarter nation"?

Smarter in what? In grades? In clothes / success appearances? In technology following (instead of inventing?) In making more money and GDP? In propagada ? More surveillance? About time you start appointing your new seat warmer...

  11. Frankly if the President made a speech, why is it the the 2 idiot MPs see it their duty to defend the President as if they are the authorised representatives acting on behalf of the President ? They mean to say they are willing to pay millions for a jiak liao bee President who can't even rebut for himself ?

Or it implies they came from the same gang ? Then why does the President need bother to open his mouth in the first place especially when he has the record of being the 1st elected President to be booed when elected ?

    1. The president is only reading from a script, who prepared it? Only he knows, did Mr president added his thoughts? Maybe but the robotic tones he uses seems to indicate that he didn't or not interested

  12. Just wondering if our leaders say one thing but their subsequent actions show they doesn't actually mean it, can we call them liars ?

    1. Well, that could be one example that Ravi and Roy can introduce in court and "hopefully" convince the presiding judge that such leaders do not have any good reputation to begin with, so hence nothing to protect. Perhaps 40% or more like minded citizens can collectively sign a petition declaring they do not trust the PM at all. This can add up to a million plus signatures and thereafter handed over to Ravi. What say you ?

    1. All along it has been PAP first, so can you claim this has benefitted majority of Singaporeans ?
Singaporeans first does not mean giving the job to any incompetent and/or idiotic Singaporean and you can take our useless PM as the prime example followed by the rest of his PAP stooges. Anything else you wish to share ?
