The Last Lap

Nice digs, staff of 90, $4 million to upkeep

Aha, the gun carriage denied to Ong Teng Cheong

Glass panels for climate control?

No ordinary land rover, must be a Mercedes

Looks like it's downhill all the way now

He ain't so heavy, he's just your grandpa

Goh has his last laugh, not so wooden after all

Seriously, bagpipes? Ummi drums cannot meh?

Someone please lock up after he leaves the building

Not exactly North Korea standard, but good enough

Back to place of work, after long absence

Last chance to note number plate for TOTO bet

Remember, chaps, you drop it, you pay for it

Phew! That wasn't too difficult, was it?

Back to work, fellas, show's over.

  1. Hey, what happened to our Singapore flag in the "bagpipes" photo? Why all red and no white?

    1. Apparently, that All Red is The Presidential Standard ! From afar, one would believe that the PRC gas taken over the Istana etc.....
Interesting if the Authority could explain the rationale of that design . Is Our President not " pure and virtuous " ? That question is based on what the White portion of our National Flag symbolises .

  2. The man would disagree on 7 days.
    Totally unproductive.
" I told the cabinet, look, 3 days is sufficient.
We have serious things to work on, a slide in votes, widening income gaps and the skill of our workers."

    Alas... Geok Choo beckons....

    1. This man does not believe in afterlife. He said it would have been overpopulated by now, thus impossible. Let alone any resurrection. So those who say he is reunited with his wife is not respecting his intellect.

    1. Never a man to care about political incorrect. So why shy from him now in his death? The best parting gift!

“Look, Jeyaretnam can’t win the infighting. I’ll tell you why. WE are in charge. Every government ministry and department is under our control. And in the infighting, he will go down for the count every time… I will make him crawl on his bended knees, and beg for mercy.”

    1. Breadtalk should have made a 李所当然 bun in the shape of knuckleduster and would be sold out. Unlike the crying 60% batch called it a bad pun and bad timing.

  6. I've got to give it to you, Tattler. Great captions. Whatever happened to Lee Wei Ling? She is MIA? Hope it is not due to some disagreement with Papa.

  7. I am quite astounded the number of people Q-ing for so many hours to catch a glimpse and pay respects. Why ah? Go to community club to do it not good enough? I must be daft not to understand this phenomenon.

    1. So we move from #simisaialsossg50 to #simisaialsoLKY?!

7 awful days of non-stop propaganda. Even taxi drivers are switching off radio. Our parents are switching off tvs, and the expats wished they could have left town for all that overkill. That's what happens when 60% turns up for their crying on cue. Even North Korea sends his wishes to a great orchestration job well done.

    2. A lot of Singaporeans jiak pa boh tai ji cho. They will be part of history and Kay poh. You never seen every car on expressway slow down to see accident? I remember a lot of people purposely travel to visit Bt Batok Nature Reserve after a woman was raped & murdered there.- just to see the spot where the tragic crime was committed

    3. All the Ministries, Civil Service, Businesses, Social Organisations, PAP grassroots etc giving paid time off to attend. Some more provide transportation. No indication of a surge of votes for the PAP under LHL lah. Do the maths. If all the 60% (2 million?), plus the under 21s and the curious and foreigners, converge in one spot on the same day, of course the crowd will be large.

    4. It is in the nature if Singaporeans to Q for anything. The bigger the hype, the longer the Q. From hello kitty to hello, free kiss....you will find them Queing

That said, we will miss him - no greater king of the gap than him, at least this part of the world. It is good to pay your respect, even if he was the devil reincarnate.

  8. How many people actually even shed "real tears" for their own biological ah gong or father ? The older generations of sheeple has not had many chance to trace their roots and know who they are and from whence they came from, they just anyhow adopt a psuedo ah-going who pretend to be their father. It fills a void in their empty father/forefathers relationships. I don't blame them. Many such older people in the early pioneers.

  9. The 5 numbers on the number plate of that merc added up to 13, but then some like it that way. Why must be 5 numbers leh? Make it hard for the 4D fans

  10. Everything is intentional.
This has been prepared years in advance.
They are not idiots, the teary eyes, the time to regain composure...they are real.. because each and everyone of them owe their million dollars pay check, authority, influence and fame ( for life ) all to that one man.

The entire business community owe it to him for
    -cheap labour
    -compliant labour
They would provide time off, and encouragement.

The next 5 years will be tested... our neighbours will definitely test our mettle ( or rather the cabinet ).

The prince has no gravitas with big players let alone the neighbour... if any, its all on papa's work... which will fade when new leaders emerge.. who will not give any weight to relationships. Facebook allows people to unfriend... no different here.

  11. Not to forget Khaw Boon Wan's tears as he cries in front of state media and claims that if not for the old man, there would be no Garden City...I did not know that he is in love with plants so much....

    1. A theory went among the people I know that the ministers and members of parliament who are all out on the eulogizing and crying are all using this opportunity to ingratiate themselves with the PM and hopefully gain an upper hand eventually in cabinet. True or not, I just find all the eulogizing overkill and seriously, the crying in front of state media was seriously more entertaining than the Singapore Star Awards!

    2. In days of yore, the kings in China & Egypt would have these loyalists buried with them.

Lets see if there is any more acting then.

  13. surely not the ''last'' lap? he still has to get to the crematorium. nothing's been said about his ashes.

a coffin in a glass box on a trolley looks so unclassy.
but then I think the foto of him on the banner is so
un-lky. no vibrancy, no electricity. if anything, that
personified the man. he also looks sly in the pic.

  14. You know the first few pictures where the members of the public raised their hands as LKY's coffin rode past? It reminds me of the same procession in Germany during WW2 when Hitler rode past. The people attending that procession did the same thing too.
