Leave God Out Of This

Recently Lawrence Khong wrote this on his Facebook posting:
"The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us (Isaiah 33:22 NKJV). This means our faith should not be confined within the walls of the Church, but spread outwards throughout our nation so that Kingdom values are manifested in our communities. The Lord is not just the Lord of the church, He is the Lord of the jury of our nation for He is our Judge. The Lord is not just the Lord of the Christian community, He is also the Lord of the legislature of our Parliament for His is our Lawgiver."

His active response to the Health Promotion Board (HPB)'s FAQs on Sexuality - including the controversial pro-377A guide - prompted one commentator to highlight the legal angles in play:
"This and his lobbying letter clearly fall under section 8(1)(b) and (d) of the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act: The Minister may make a restraining order against any priest, monk, pastor, imam, elder, office-bearer or any other person who is in a position of authority in any religious group or institution or any member thereof for the purposes specified in subsection (2) where the Minister is satisfied that that person has committed or is attempting to commit any of the following acts:
(b) carrying out activities to promote a political cause, or a cause of any political party while, or under the guise of, propagating or practising any religious belief;
(d) exciting disaffection against the President or the Government while, or under the guise of, propagating or practising any religious belief."

The assumption on both sides is that Parliament believes in a higher entity, and is prepared to submit itself to a higher authority than the one it has already signed a Faustian pact with.

Lee is pretty candid about his personal beliefs, "If you ask me, 'Is there a God?' my answer is 'I don't know.' (LKY: The Man And His Ideas, page 245). He makes it quite plain, "I don't think I have ever, in times of great danger or peril, gone down on my knees to pray, or gone to the temple and hoped for a miracle. I do not believe strength comes, necessarily, from a belief in God." If his parliamentarians have a guiding principle, it has to be "In GDP we trust, everybody else pays cash."

  1. Lawrence must be an idiot for equating homosexuals with drug addicts, etc. Supposing LKY has a son or daughter who happens to be gay, just imagine the implications of LKY having a gay son or daughter according to Lawrence's logic of argument. Is that fair to the parents of any LBGT person?

    1. That's also the first impression I get upon reading his equation of LBGT with drug addicts and pornography beastlies who have sinned and lumped as one in his basket-case category. He seriously need a lesson on biology. He might as well set up a division under his Touch Community and suggest sinners go for a DNA genetic cell replacement -- to do something constructive about it if he is such a fervent believer.

  2. 'If his parliamentarians have a guiding principle, it has to be "In GDP we trust, everybody else pays cash." '

It is "GDP bonus" they worship. Just changed the formula to include a improvement in median Income in the "new" (but still much the same as before) national bonus, and straight away we see the Gini coefficient dropped miraculously from 46 to 41 (although how they tortured the data to show 41, no one told us - must have included all those SMRT "subsidies", to be announced Medishiled Life subisdies, etc). Of course this is not the UN version of Gini, does not include "other income" of the top 10% like streets of properties sold at hefty profit etc. But still good enough for 18 months bonus leh.

  3. Is Lawrence not digging a grave for himself for writing such nonsense in his Facebook?

So is he saying the Muslim communities should be under his Lordship as if not enough hatred is already sown between the 2 faiths globally?

  4. Hahaha

In his early days his doctrine was 'in knuckle-dusters we trust.'. Only later, to avoid the international criticism did he change his doctrine to 'in GDP we trust'

  5. Just when we see a demagogue finally enter his final years.
Another demagogue rises to try and take his place.

  6. This attack on homosexuals under the guise of "preserving the sanctity of the biblical definition of marriage" is disingenuous. As those of us with any Asian ancestry know, marriage can take a lot of forms in our various cultures: polygamy, polyandry, child betrothals to adults, child-child marriages, human-animal couplings, human-ghost(!) pairings, etc. Some of these practices precede the invention of the Christian god, and yet the one-man-to-one-woman type of coupling has persisted. Why? Human beings like to have sex with people they desire. (Yes, even Christian ladies who have been brainwashed to repress their natural sexual inclinations.) And the vast majority of people desire to have sex with the opposite sex of the human variety. This has always been the status quo and will never change.

Given the vehemence with which Khong has pursued this destructive agenda, I therefore will not be surprised if he turns out to be a closeted c*cksucker himself... Sad thing is that nobody he knows will tell him that homosexuality is a natural albeit uncommon occurrence, and that they will still love and accept him for who he is, not what he puts in his mouth.

  7. going by what's been happening, these new-ish Christian groups seem a rather intolerant, money-minded lot. if Jesus hadn't risen from the dead, he might be turning in his grave...

lawrence makes the little indian rioters look honest and upfront, and kong hee appear benevolent, almost wimpy.

he is obviously determined to raise a ruckus. to what extent does one let someone use religion in this manner before reining him in sharply? no doubt the fellow will go underground if he is.

on a general scale, how far then does one go to push a point, say, like trying to prevent the realisation of the population white paper's goal? heck, two vast areas of green in Spore are being destroyed - in the face of climate change - even as western US dries up and worries about water.

its telling that the govt reacted quickly to PWP protests but has yet to address Lawrence and his destructive rampaging.

eh, hri kumar, so what are your views on all this?
