Working Hard For His Money

Settling for second best
The first reports claimed that Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met United States President Barack Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden and National Security Advisor Susan Rice on Wednesday (June 25) in Washington, DC. Later, the statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary said Mr Obama only dropped by Lee's meeting with Ms Rice. The guy in the photo op is definitely not the president of the most powerful democracy on planet earth. No Obama.

Lee met with Joe Biden instead, to reaffirm Singapore-US bilateral ties and exchange views on further enhancing relations, yada yada yada, and Joe promised to visit in November. No Obama.

On Wednesday, Lee was also hosted to tea by US Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC), which was attended by US Senators Robert Corker, Marco Rubio and Benjamin Cardin, who is Chairman of the SFRC Sub-Committee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs. No Obama.

Shucks, that's like visiting Paris and not get to climb the Eiffel Tower.

But Obama's a pretty busy guy right now. With Sunni militants capturing two border crossings, one along the frontier with Jordan and the other with Syria, and fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) advancing on the Haditha Dam, it's all hands on deck. The 300 advisers he's sending to Iraq better not end up like the 300 Spartans. If you saw the movie, you'll know they were wiped out by the Persians at the Battle of Thermopylae. US secretary of state John Kerry has been asked by President Barack Obama to travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday to confer with King Abdullah on the best ways to counter the ISIL advance.

This may be his last term of office, but he's sure putting the pedal to the metal as if it were the first. Whatever Obama is paid, this guy sure works hard for his money.

  1. LHL no need to work so hard like Obama.
    With 60% daft Singaporeans support.
LHL can "work" until 90 years old like his father.

  3. The words "settling for second best" beneath the photo says more than most people would assume it meant. No, it is not Biden who is second best but you know who.

    1. 2nd best is too generous.
You must be a fan of LHL.

    2. To be specific, LHL is 2nd best of those at rock bottom.
Even then, it may still be a compliment for this useless PM.

  4. If drop by can also take selfie with him, right ? Remember during Obama's first nomination as candidate for President, someone even saw it his business to remark that Obama will not make a good President for US and the other Republican candidate would be the better one.

That probably explain why Obama has to give Spore a miss during his recent tour in this region. It simply can't make sense for our PM not to be granted an official session with Obama and to be snubbed just like that.

    1. It's all about money. How can a US President paid so much less than our PM face him? He will feel second best, that's probably why he gave Singapore a miss. See the pic above. The body language of Joe Biden who must do all the explaining while our PM has a smug and superior air. See their hands. It's all money talk

And see the sitting positions. The guest of honour is seated on the right side of the host according to protocol, so Biden takes the inferior or second best position. In our context, how much you are paid can be a determinant. Please check with the new MFA protocol chief, because the former has been suspended for the pineapple tarts escapade. LOL.

Hopefully this trip our PM won't commit the gaffes he did in 2013 when he cracked some jokes about free smoke and pork soup at a Washington dinner. Or the one in Germany in 2005 during a ceremony at the Chancellory in Berlin. Keep your fingers crossed.

World Peace did you said? My foots! You know so little of world's geopolitics.... Between Bush and Obomo, not hard to decide who is worst. Wars, wars and more wars. Even before the Ukraine debacles end, started by the US and EU - hundred thousands refugees and killing (no mentioned in any MSM including BBC) by Ukraine in Southeast regions. Not to mentions: Syria, Iraq, Afghan, Sudan, Egypt and more...

    2. "World peace" or "world in pieces"? Unca Sam uses printed money to buy weapons to fight al qaeda in Afghan and Iraq. On other hand, they use same printed money to feed Al-Qaeda factions with U$500m weapons to fight Assad. One shudn't be naive on world affairs and trust the shitty times and certainly not murdoch's dirty empire news channels. The real rulers are the global military industrial complex, the oil men and the banksters. More wars mean more profits. Rothchild showed how it worked centuries ago, nothing has changed. Red dot's elites merely are aligning our country with the side where it served their own interests most. For now, we are spared the syrians' or iraqis' fate, but we are just pawns, the elites will feed us to the dogs when their interests are no longer aligned with unca sam's.

    3. Amen!

Did you read unit 731? It's really gruesomes cutting Chinese alive do experiments, Uncle Sam part and parcel of it after WW2. Now Uncle Sam rearming the Jap for another round?

BTW read the late Iris Chang author of "The Rape of Nanking"

"...Iris Chang wrote ``The Rape of Nanking,'' to memorialize one of the bloodiest massacres of civilians in modern times, she wasn't prepared for the firestorm she started..."

  6. Obama did not even drop on his last Asian tour, visited Bolehland instead. Now snub our dragon prince. Maybe he is not happy that his pay is lower than pinkie, no dignity.

    1. Quite true. Clown prince has too much dignity now nobody wants to meet him and feel insulted. Perhaps Mr Lim Wee Kiat should ask for lower pay for PM since Obama does not want to meet him.

  7. They say obummer plays more golf than any other us prez, well wait till they see the red dot prez, no one even bothers to keep track (maybe that's state secret). And paid several times more after returning 50% in a pay cut! Did someone say "absurd"? Maybe denise is jealous, maybe she is hinting she also need a pay hike or she'll vote against elected prez! Greed knows no bounds among red dot elites.

  8. "Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC), which was attended by US Senators Robert Corker, Marco Rubio and Benjamin Cardin, who is Chairman of the SFRC Sub-Committee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs. "

For your info: both sides, Repug and Democrats loves wars and anyone can prove it!! You can find more yourself how they voted since Bush and Bush2.

  10. Your title have me thinking "If our PM does not work hard enough for his money, it is best that he make way for someone who can".

Similarly, If our PM's wife Ho Ching does not work hard enough for our CPF monies, then she better make herself dispensable to someone who can. If our CPF interest rate does not get improved and can only remains at 2.5~4% all these years, then why good is there for her to remain ?

If both of them can't even vouch for their own performances at least in improving on CPF returns, can both of them please get the hell out of their current positions and make way for far more competent people to take over ? At least don't try to act blur that no better competent candidates can be found yet ?

  11. I get the feeling obama can't be bother with ah loong and his cronies...cos they more interest in making "money" for themselves than making the world a safe place for children and for the future....

compare with that...our Leeders show to the world how worthless they are in the context as human beings...haiz

  12. Now our PM is not even shameful at admitting that he will spend his expensive time in fixing the opposition up. In the US context , if the President even dares to admit this, he will be finished.

So how to associate with someone like that?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Obama is too ashamed to meet our PM as he will soon have to earn his upkeep with speaking tours, something that our incorruptible MIWs are too dignitified to stoop down to doing after leaving office. Btw, Uncle Sam's presidents do not cling on to remain in Congress or the Senate after leaving the Istana.

    1. Dun means to be rude. Readers keep referring to "pay" and "ashamed" or whatever, dunno what it means!

The US Garmen three distinct branches: The Legislative - Congress (House and Senate), The Executive - Presidency, the Judicial - Supreme Court of United States. The office of President limits to two 4-years terms.

What do you mean ashamed or high pay and "cling on to remain in Congress or the Senate?” You are comparing "chicken” to “duck” and not chicken to chicken.

Lastly, if anyone recalled Bill Clinton on leaving the White House was broke. Twelve’s years later a billionaire. Pay has nothing to with PM or the US president. Criminals and crooks are the same everywhere.

Singaporeans need to read, find out more before shooting their mouths wildly comparing PM with the US President. If only Singapore is smarter, we would never be in such shit today!

  14. New Singapore $ Denominations:
    -------------------------------
Due to rapid increase in Ministerial salaries, the following are Singapore’s new currency denominations:

    $1 Derisory = $5,000
    $1 Peanut = $600,000

Further suggestions from Singaporeans most welcome.
