The End Game Is Near

The outside world may have awaited anxiously for the outcome of the court case yesterday - including The Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and International Business Times - but we who are born and bred here know that the result is a foregone conclusion.

Grace Fu, Singapore’s second minister for foreign affairs, was quoted by The Associated Press (AP) as saying she wasn’t concerned about the international response to the image of a teen shackled for speaking his mind online. This is one foreign minister who cares not an iota about our soiled reputation as a global city. Instead, she's more concerned "my family would not suffer a drastic change in the standard of living"  if the drop in income "is tilted further in the future".

Not everyone is in the game for the money. Acting pro-bono, defence lawyer Alfred Dodwell enjoined out of conscience (?) in the David-Goliath face-off, except that in this version, the small boy gets to lose. Christians ought to be offended by this rewrite of the biblical story. From the detritus of the mock battle, all that's salvageable are some quotable quotes. :
  • “He is only 16 years old. Don’t make him out to be a demon.”
  • “I won’t say he’s a man of conviction, but he’s certainly a kid of conviction.”
  • “Amos is very positive; he believes there’s nothing wrong and stands by what he says and this is the very reason why he is in remand, because he refuses to be gagged.”
  • “We may not agree with him on what he has posted… (but) if it is a crime it has to be proven in the court of law.”
Well, the court has ruled, but the truth is still out there. When courts are seen to be unfair, we become more fearful and less able to trust each other. We end up divisive, spending more effort protecting our own turf because we don’t believe the system is there to back us up. Nation building requires more work than solving SuDoku puzzles, for which there are plenty of sites to download scripts.

  2. Grace Fu would approve of this kind of kids that the state wants to dull and brainwash our children into saying "...depends on how much you are willing to pay". That's good subliminal propaganda from their pov instead of encouraging lively , and curious minds like Amos Yee.

Indeed, we are very fond in making marytrs out of nothing. This nation has truly digressed.

    1. this gahment is the real nightmare to the decent hardworking people who deserves better.

is unrealistic that we should pay them obscene wages to hide behind facade of religions for trampling on fair speech.

    2. For Grace Fu other kids must be dumb down and force to be obedient for her paymasters who in turn are paid by the people...for her own kids...no way of course...nuts.

    3. Basically who is she to comment that Amos is a nightmare for his parents ?

For all she knows, if I do have such a kid as courageous, intelligent and articulate as Amos, I would certainly be proud of him. Never mind how one disgraceful minister wants to make it out to be.

By the way isn't she the one who make a big grumble about making such a sacrifice serving the nation. By that kind of attitude alone, I'm sure many parents would be having nightmares.

    4. Real nightmare was when a power couple of a reputable lawyer and his NMP wife whose son was caught in drug bust, and thought the stuff that his nose was snorting was merely milk-powder!

Got to hand it to the lawyer then. I supposed is what typical day in the life of a defending lawyer looks like.

So, poor or rich, parenting the perfect child is not a school assignment one can score full marks even if one is willing to pay for it. As far as both children are concerned - one has a dream, the other had a nightmare.

Why waste taxpayers money on elites and scholars to UK cambridge or US harvard? They can't even practice 1/3 of what these first world nations preach, they will surely not be the ones to guide us towards an enlightened nation of people, let alone a first world parliament.

A look at what first world nation of people who can laugh and mock and critique themselves without getting all tangled and slapping incidents and make the world mock at their own people. You really think Amos did worse than these folks?
We will be looking back in 20 yrs time and laugh at the pettiness we had on this boy, just as we scorned how they destroyed Chee on his petty cash expense.

Top marks once again, to a clueless PM who leads us all down the rabbit holes.

  4. Aiseyman..Mr Kishore should write a sequel to his earlier book and call it "Can Singaporeans (stormtroppers) think" lah

He looks damn foolish now hor..earlier calling for cartoonist or satiricalist to make fun of politicians and public leaders.
Simple sketch like this can cause youths to have lascivious thoughts and massive masturbation?!! WTF

Judge should also call for IMH to psycho treat a potentially large group of narcissistic compulsive regressive necrophiliacs disorder sia?

So how many of those 32 police complainants want to kee-chiu har?

  5. Hmmm, had AY glorified and worshipped the old man, but dissed off some religion and posted some obscene pics, would it all still come to this, him being charged, cuffed, shackled & convicted?

    1. Had AY replaced the pic with Fidel Castro and Thatcher lady, no one will give a fark about it. Even Japanese anime/manga readers won't go anywhere near 10 poles.

  6. International rights groups such as Human Rights Watch (HRW) criticized the verdict saying that it was about "publicly punishing a youthful dissident who dared besmirch the image of the recently passed leader, and intimidating anyone else who might think of doing the same in the future."
Even the disgraceful minister cannot ignore hard truths like this.

I think PAP is keeping us in the 19th century.

  8. Amos Yee is the symbol of the 5 C's:

    Conscience
    Conviction
    Commitment
    Consistency
    Common sense

He is the Martyr of Freedom From Repression. Though just a 16 year old juvenile, he has been trialed in an Adults' Court without the due process of ensuring that he is mentally and emotionally matured to stand trial in an Adults' Court, instead of in a Juvenile Court, or Family Court in singapore context.

He has been in jail (remand is a nicer word) because he objected to the ridiculous and extreme conditions attached to his bail terms, which normally never happen to other more serious alleged crimes, even before he was found guilty of his alleged offence.

  9. This obviously blatant iron-fist injustice in a case of The State vs Amos Yee is an inhuman act that respects no International Laws in the Modern World, where the Greed for the Growth of the GDP and for more selfish individual power and monetary rewards knows no boundaries, yet the same detractors want to impose all kinds of boundaries and drawing all kinds of lines to limit the basic and fundamental freedom of all human beings in this world, in a modern First World Singapore.

Yes, I agree the End is Near1

  10. So-called obscene image of LKY & MT has not caused even a single ripple in UK. Yet it's ruled over here that it has effect of depraving and corrupting young minds? Truly first world and 3rd world apart.

Curiously, since one's "intention" to promote good change is irrelevant, then how is it fair that one's "propensity or tendency' to corrupt count? IS all very subjective isn't it? The readers of Amos' blog is based on the substance of his content. How do we know the readers have been more youth and less adults? Did they receive and get a copy of his traffic report that has a breakdown of readers' demographics? If not, how will the judge know? Afterall, it was 32 objectionable adults who lodged with police! And you can't argue that his audience is young readers yet trial him not in family but adult court, and shackled him like one! He didn't need one criminal record on him to be mistreated and mishandled like one as we have publicly seen during this time!

Oh, and don't get me going about the limited repertoire and how deviant certain sexual positions some people have. In this day and age, they still portray sex as dirty shameful taboo thing to do..Is all very laughable as I am reminded of the dwindling TFR. 14-20 yo youths are all watching Hannah the Montana who has been twerking her butts all around mtvs in the world! Say no more.

  13. Amos is not born in the wrong country.
He is born in the wrong time when PAP is still ruling after 2 generations under Lee make-believe dynasty.

It is true what the judge said, that Amos plainly has a lot of growing up to do. So does a silent majority of electorate who grew up idolizing LKY and are quick to duplicate his tactics to bludgeon all his dissenters.

  14. Whatever they are saying otherwise, this case is political.
They dropped that anti-LKY charge to show its not because they know they will get the guilty verdict on the other charges.
I bet all those who reported to the Police were complaining about Amos' insult of their other God or as someone put it
    the Hakka one.
Having rewatched Amos' video and caricature over again and again, I say the verdict is ridiculous and make us a laughing stock

And George Yeo reminded the peasants to know their place.

But they dislike it when the smart leaders are the laughing stock, thus the obscene salary and power they forcefully yield.

I guessed people all around the world now know what a hypocrite country Singapore is.

  17. Looks like one good thing has come out of the whole Amos affair.

It seems that anyone threatening to cut off someone's penis will no longer be regarded as a criminal offence, judging by the no-action taken by the police against that Jason grassroots member for his threat against Amos.

And it is quite strange that our Law Minister has chosen to comment that it is not acceptable to slap Amos but choose to remain silent over the threat to chop off Amos's penis instead.

Which is more serious, a slap on his face or to chop-off his penis ?

  18. Thanks to LKY, the newer generation of PAP has been raised to be fearful of nothing but the Lee Dynasty. Hence, their indifference to world opinion.

It is time to remove them from political power and start to strike fear in PAP's core so that they learn to practise their listening skills more.
