Hard Of Hearing

You would have thought they heard the strident voices of a people by now, resonating with similar demands on the discredited Central Provident Fund (CPF) system:
  • We want our money back at age 55 (as contractually promised);
  • We want the returns due us, not the conjured pathetic rate;
  • We want transparency so that future generations will not be hoodwinked (like the present lot).

Instead, they are commissioning a new study to find out what the people want, for retirement, and for health needs. Latter must refer to the hated Medisave component of the CPF scam. The market research firm appointed, at taxpayers' expense of course, "The Nielsen Company" may not be a $2 company - unlike Action Information Management (AIM), they actually have qualified staff onboard - will be conducting face-to-face interviews. Anyone familiar with survey work will recognise that data gathering is only the icing for the final report and recommendations. A clever accountant, especially the hired gun type, when asked what is one plus one, will be quick to respond with "What do you want it to be?"

But they are not taking chances with this exercise. The respondents for the interview have been pre-selected, just like the first batch of compliant participants for the National Conversation. As incentive to give the "right" answers, this anointed lot will be receiving supermarket vouchers worth $50 cash (not Medisave top up or utility bill subsidy). To seal the deal, even their spouses can get vouchers worth $25. Was it George Yeo who said pork barrel politics was invented by the Americans?

When they have a working formula, you betcha they won't tweak it. Even though the public uproar is all about tweaking the CPF ponzi scheme.

  1. Or they just refuse to hear. Send a loud enough message in 2016 that will penetrate their auditory dysfunction.

  3. I think they will listen better when we turn one or two more GRCs to the opposition in the next GE.

    1. Sure they are listening.

      But they choose not to do what we want them to do.. their way is the supreme best... no other way and they spend tons of money to market their way.

      Repeat a story often and it becomes real.

    2. How about make them the opposition and let them repent? One or 2 GRC is too little impact.

    3. PAP is doing what they thought is good for you.

    4. Make PAP the Opposition and let them account for all their past deeds.

  4. They are giving back the money but not all - probably makes a lot of sense when so many just take their monies out and spent them away recklessly or fell prey to fakey profit-quick schemes. Not every one is so finance-smart and in such case, would need to be "bailed out or bailed in"

      they pay you $100 and take back $99..."

    2. So what if some are not finance-smart. Has the gov ever given money or help to the destitute in Spore? They will force the children to upkeep those who have lost their savings. It is just a diversionary tactic to keep the people's money

  5. I already know the outcome of the survey. 80% are happy with the CPF scheme and welcome changes to it to cater for increasing living and medical expenditure. No need to spend 10 million.

  6. Talk no use.
    We have to vote Opposition or we won't get back our CPF money.
    True or not?

  8. Just wonder whether they will con us by selecting interviewees from specially recruited members like their IB spies or grassroots members ?

    PAP is not know as cunning & devious for no apparent reason.

  9. Big brother is telling you what you should eat for every meal, a "study" will slam it down your throat as the definitive sealed deal for your CPF - chosen by and for you. And if they can spend a few hundred million dollars to boost GDP in the process, pinkie and his cabinet will definitely say "go for it"!

    Has it been any different? Why 30 years ago some already senile politician/amateur social engineer wanted you to marry down or marry up so the singapore gene pool would not slip towards the left of the bell curve. He must not have understood randomness even when his grandson came along, bunch of bloody arrogant stubborn asses think they can play god.

  10. The almighty cannot be wrong. His grandson is the fault of his daughter-in-law and she paid the ultimate price. His grandson from the replacement daughter-in-law redeemed his beliefs in his family having the most superior, most meritocratic genes to ascend to the Premiership one day. This most meritocratic person's wife will outshine his mother by helming both SWFs even after the Looney have stepped down, just to prove that the almighty was 100% correct. And of course all power remain in the familee else a freak election will be declared and they govern by the mandate of Heaven.

  11. To the above.

    Everyone dies in the end.

    Lucky no one can become immortal...with too many people like this in charge...the doom of humanity is confirmed.

    Nature will start again with another intellectual and wiser life-form...humans just can't cut it in this imicable universe...better they become a forgotten foot note.
