Writings On The Wall

The last time graffiti was used as an expression of public sentiments was when the outer walls of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) headquarters at Kim Keat Road was redecorated one early morning in July 2005.

The New Paper rushed down at about 6 am after a reader noticed the artwork and called their hotline. A wall of spray painting spelt out the messages in bold red, the words 'NKF=liar' written in English, and 'big liar' in Chinese. The word 'liar' was also repeated on every alternate pillar. The 'Hang Turi' was dedicated to the source of much unhappiness, NKF's CEO, T T Durai. A motorcyclist who was delivering newspapers was overheard uttering: "Now the whole world knows."

Nobody knows how the rooftop of Block 85A at Toa Payoh Lorong 4 was accessed since only authorised personnel can sign for the key, which is tightly controlled by the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council. Andrew Garfield was in town to promote Spiderman 2, but we can safely rule him out for a publicity run. He did play Eduardo Saverin in the Social Network movie, but Saverin is one foreign talent much welcomed by higher ups, thanks to the millions he brought along to our low tax and estate duty free regime.

Like the NKF message, the Toa Payoh literary effort was quickly painted over. Before any attempt to lift finger prints at the site or a close examination of the stylistic handwriting. The see no evil, hear no evil approach must save a lot of police paperwork. But a resident expressed concern  about the motivation, "People are now finding  different ways to express their feelings and unhappiness."

  1. This guy should audition for a stunt-man role in Spiderman 3 movie indeed, given how he was able to out-maneuver the $10m island wide lock-change project since the last dead body dump? I just hope he is smart enough to check if there were cctv around before he committed his bravery.

    2. Not if they signed off with omega gang. You bet the matas are all over the gang interviewing the lot now. Whoever it was, is technically impressive since I read that the latch to the door was still locked (untrampled), which would suggest this was all rope work?

    3. Looks like they are going to expedite installation of CCTVs to all HDB blocks with immediate urgency with 4 additional ones pointing to the 4 walls at the rooftop. Otherwise how to catch the culprit ?

Our latest spiderman is now our latest hero !!!! Hope he doesn't get caught.

So can also use drones to deliver a box of jollibee chicken wings to the president har? this will show how we happily support all happy events and festivals in sinkieland which belongs to all foreigners/PR/residents. I read that when the HK chief asked hongkies to be tolerant of mainland chinese pooing in public, they mailed him a box of human faeces. He must be very tolerant hor.

  6. For someone to go to the extreme of doing that at danger to his / her own life...and if things continue to get worst...

What do you think he/she will do next if graffiti does not work....remember he/she has nothing to lose...if he/she think better to die...they will equally make sure the parties causing them no way out to die with them too...

    This is a fact.

    So pappies better wake up.

  16. why u all think it must be sinkie job? Did it strike anyone most of our high rise painters are from Myanmar? there are lots of jobless foreign workers around toa payoh constantly being harassed by boyz in blue ( although for unknown reasons there are no jobless pinoys, nor jobless ang mohs even when they parade around town with upright middle fingers, most of those jobless are from Burma). If you speak with them, most became jobless after their employers decided not to pay them and the MoM won't raise a finger (sign of good upbringing maybe, Ah Liat?). I say, now papigs! taste your own FT medicine. huat arghhh....

    2. The Shit Times version have got PAP but no FUCK. Their photographer must have waited for the word FUCK to be painted over before taking the photo which makes one wonder why they bother. Just like our PAP why bother to pretend to care for everyone but in reality they are screwing us many times over?

STB should seriously consider turning graffiti into a selling point since such artform is so rare. It might just improve their ranking from #2 to #1 spot since we like to be number 1 in all and any kinds of ranking contest. So try not to disgrace us please.

  19. In a normal democracy, this is a healthy and harmless way to register your opposition in a peaceful manner. Compared to the rioting and burning in Little India, no one was hurt or properties seriously damaged. This should be encouraged.

    1. This pales in comparison to what the incumbent government had done when the leadership abused its power to detain citizens on trumped up charges for umpteen years without trial, sued political opponents into bankruptcy using a subservient justice system and such was their vindictiveness that some had to flee the country as political refugees. For that, the PAP buggers really ought to be eternally grateful if this graffiti message does not evolve to become a "no holds bar" outcome.

  25. Civil disobedience is the strongest form of resistance to the various forms of despotism - apartheid in S Africa, colonial repression in India, slavery in 1960s US and commie Deng's blood-tainted iron claw in 1989 tiananmen. Imagine if everyone were to start pulling down those PAP posters, or paint brush every hdb block's external walls, every repressed red dotter can get the message clear beyond the haze of doublespeak and incessant spinning of SPH and mediacorp to brainwash the 60%! There won't ever be enuf boyz in blue to catch every painter or sprayer, not unless they give up their billion dollar robbery salaries and hire all the Malaysian aux security guards and put 3 per hdb block on 3 shifts round the clock. We don't need the internet anymore, I am going to look into selling spray paints business, anyone wants to spare a dollar to help me buy stocks? I give some share options, and my coy might go IPO before next election!

Btw, aren't those PAP posters also graffiti? except they are paid by town council expenses ie by you and me? and probably made by some $2 co affiliated to the pigs).

Unfortunately the old fart believes and is actively brain washing everyone like Kaplan that he was revolutionary.
