At around 11:40 minutes into the program, Lee asks the youngsters point-blank, ".... and you are afraid that if you vote against the PAP and something will happen to you?"
To which came the quick response, "This is the impression the PAP has created."
Suffice it to say, there's enough anecdotal evidence to suggest it's more than an impression now. First there was this trainman who lost his job because he was not supposed to board a coach using a certain entrance way. Now a health worker has been sacked for alleged defamation when the court case has yet to be convened.
The employer, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), phrased the details for what happened thus:
“Mr Ngerng’s conduct was incompatible with the values and standards we expect of our employees. While our staff are free to pursue their personal interests outside work, they must conduct themselves properly, honourably and with integrity."
“In particular, they cannot defame someone else without basis, which essentially means knowingly stating a falsehood to the public.”
The Ministry of Health (MOH) - those folks who are foisting Medishield Life on us - was quick to oblige with a twist of the dagger:
"MOH would like to reiterate that it supports TTSH's decision as Mr Ngerng's actions show a lack of integrity and are incompatible with values and standards of behavior expected of hospital employees."
In the case of the lusty professor at the law faculty of our national university, the academic's employ, and his paycheck, were terminated only after the court convicted him. Conspiracy theories about his political predilections notwithstanding, the message for our young ones seem to be that sexual misdemeanors are less serious than politically incorrect opinions. And in the case of the Brompton Bikes, in which the prosecutor maintained there was strong public interest in ensuring the integrity of the process through which public funds are spent, a $5,000 fine was considered appropriate atonement. This has to be a confusing time for the younger generation.
The time has really come for the citizens to show their disapproval of such practices.Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThis is called the politics of fear.
ReplyDeleteOne moment they talk about constructive politics. Their very next act debunks all these. You can forget all their bullshit.
DeleteThey do not bullshit. THIS is their constructive politics, to let you buy into letting them govern forever.
DeleteSo constructive politics is to think what they want, read what they want, say what they want, and do what they want? The Right things? What about what we want?
DeleteSo now they are resorting to killing the chicken to scare away the monkey? Enough is enough. We are not Animal Farm. Change we need.
Ubah 2016!!!
DeleteIt's not confusing at all. Just get rid of all the bastards!
ReplyDeleteThinking aloud, the incumbents deserve an "Inglorious Bastards" type of counter measure.
Delete.
For the Brompton case, I thought the Khaw Peh One jumped the gun and said there was no wrong doing?
ReplyDeleteThe 60.1% got to wake up. Singapore is doomed if these idiots keep voting PAP.
ReplyDeleteThe 60.1% can be said to be suffering from the 'Stockholm Syndrome', identifying and sympathising with a PAP government that has robbed them of their country, their constitutional rights, their ability to think, their dignity. HolyShit!
DeleteThis type of one-sided justice is what made the people furious.
ReplyDeleteThe Clown Prince simply cannot understand what went wrong especially when the Emperor himself sees no wrong or harm done in jailing someone for a few decades without even giving them the benefit of any doubt. Just like they see no wrong in appointing their sons or daughter-in-law in positions of conflicting interests.
Destroying someone else's life or career simply because they happen not to agree with oneself only make them look like uncivilised bastards, to say the least, never mind how much they insisted their reputations are worth.
Problem with this generation of PAP....too many dynsfunctional ones in their ranks...also too many think they are better than equal to everyone else...i think LHL in trying to secure loyalties...securing loyalties with those who in the main causing all this short sighted selfish self serving assholes to only look to themselves first...and singapore last....
ReplyDeleteSo to phara-phase a self pawned proof to the world idiot minister..."What do you think?".
Nuts LAH!
...and last...to all thosw idiot ministers who whine being politicians and "leechers" in singapore is so farking hard...you can always leave the job and get a public job...thn we see which is truely hard....assholes whining ministers....nobody elected you....many of you come thru the backsides of the GRC...so go fark yourselves u whiners.
ReplyDeleteThe outcome of any cases in Singapore involving civil servants is always puzzling and you wonder, how long they are going to stop all these wayang and truly put laws into place which is non-partisan, non-bias and truly fair in the eyes of citizens.
ReplyDeleteI sense a lot of anger here. What is MOH thinking? Is Roy such a high level employee? It shows that this firing is nothing but political. Are they going to stop Roy from running for office next? (Bankruptcy / ISA)
ReplyDeleteHow can they send Brompton man to jail? They never intended for him to be charged in the first place, in the civil masters' eyes, they have the god given right to "walk like a crab", commit day light robbery and you sheeple shud still feel grateful for their "sacrifice". Seriously, its a Kafkaesque bureaucratic self-preservation at work. The only way is to dismantle the whole system at one go, chipping at them one at a time is useless because they hold all the 3 branches of power at the same time. Its only a question of time before you see them copying the military junta in Thailand, suspend the one-man-one-vote system, and help themselves royally to more of the state's riches. Dare to protest? More gurkhas are for hire, now that Qatar might not host the world cup, all the Nepalese construction workers would gladly sign up for a key to the Mt vernon complex, at the orders of the MIW. Instead of being worked to death by the Arabs, they can be the killers for the civil masters. Remember about the Ops Director of the blue boyz asking for foreign police? remember the garmen need not follow any quota rules when it comes to foreign workers in the civil service?
ReplyDeleteAll because the then Minister said he believed those purchases were above board ? So if they had jailed him, it would reflect even worse on the Minister's judgement, isn't that the case ?
DeleteAnd the time taken for them to drag the simple case for so long until now appears to show they were reluctant to prosecute that man in the 1st place ? Quite fishy isn't it ? When someone tweeted there is something evil going on in the courts and yet they dare not prosecute the man for contempt why ?
Justice is not justice when it is not seen to be done ?
I never knew they were so afraid of Roy!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised that Roy being terminated by TTSH. He is not and will not be the last. Pinky has in a rally openly said something about thinking of fixing opposition.....
ReplyDeleteSacking Roy is the politically right thing to do if all you care about are votes. PAP will lose some votes but they will gain even more from those who get intimidated into voting for them. Next step is to spread rumours that the vote is no longer secret and those who don't vote PAP will also have their jobs adversely affected.
ReplyDeleteRoy will not be able to find employment in Singapore with any GLC or with any company that does biz with GLC or need Singapore govt regulatory approvals or permits to function. This innocent young man has had his whole life destroyed in Singapore. His only hope is to seek political asylum abroad.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Slaughter a chicken to frighten the monkeys? The monkeys are insulting Roy with donations worse than derisory for his legal defense.
DeleteUnder a PAP government; there is no joy in being Singaporean.
ReplyDeleteState apparatus: 1
ReplyDeleteActivist with a social conscience: 0
Yes, the Stockholm Syndrome and Patty Hearst ! The way we human can sympathize with our captors is amazing . Soon, we may find a newer version : the Singapore Syndrome !
ReplyDeleteThe legal position regarding MOH's uncalled for public statement:
ReplyDelete"Pending a final judgment of the Singapore Courts of the civil proceedings for defamation, that lawsuit is sub judice. Its outcome remains a matter for the Courts to determine. That is the rule of law."
Unfortunately, this country is ruled by law.
You can't blame people for having conspiracy theory in the way TTSH and MOH came up with the press releases in quick succession.
ReplyDeleteSo did TTSH seek advice from MOH on what to do with a staff that is becoming a torn in the govt's back or did the latter instigate with the dismissal?
From past events on how public institutions and civil service were used by the party in power to acheive their objectives, people are likely to believe the latter.
