The Day Of Infamy

It's the final pork barrel giveaway - an extra day off. Never mind about the loss of productive man-hours, the incumbents are still relying on the easier method of productivity growth, shipping in more foreigners. Besides, Friday starts with a "F", as in "Fifty", used ad nauseam to mark the golden jubilee, although some may associate it with an unprintable four letter word.

Punters were placing their bets on September 12, since the last general elections of 2011, 2006 and 2001 were all held on a Saturday. September 11 is, and always be, remembered as a day of infamy. That was the day a powerful nation woke up to the danger of a foreign threat. Our own version of 911 happens to mark the first election since Independence without the horrible person making his ominous presence felt at a nomination center.

His image, however, is still being milked to the hilt by the mainstream media. That, and scary archival footage of falling bombs when the Brits were having their butts kicked during WWII. Goh Keng Swee was on duty with the Straits Settlements Volunteer Force (SSVF), assigned to the "Battle Box" (an underground signals centre) at Fort Canning, when the air raid sirens sounded. Another volunteer was Edward William (EW) Barker, member of the Machine-Gun Company, comprised mostly of Eurasians. The infantry E Company was filled by Chinese recruits, while the Armoured Company manned by Europeans. There were about 2,000 men in the SSVF. ("Goh Keng Swee, A Portrait", by Tan Siok Sun, page 41)

Most of them are dead, many probably killed in battle repelling the invaders. Not for them the honours that were bestowed by the daft on two wartime collaborators, or richly rewarded with princely appointments. 911 is a reminder of unsung heroes, not fictitious champions of our down trodden. The tragedy that will unfold on Black Friday is that more will have to repent before true democracy can prevail on this island.

    1. 2015 - The PAP has lost its two-thirds majority, and if it weren't for the GRC system, even a simple majority to form a govt ???

  2. It's about time that we Singaporeans take back our bargaining right from PAP to be our selves in our own rights and not be shoved down our throats with PAP policies that is so detrimental to our future generations like 6.9m population white paper. Believe me, PAP is capable to achieving their targets by doing on the quiet. Other wise how to explain our population can jump by over 100% over the last few years.

It's about time we tell PAP to stop bullshitting us with their sweet talk and goodies like nobody's business. Just imagine how much of our taxpayers' monies is spent on PAP political propanganda, anyone knows exactly ? Your guess is probably as good as mine, we are clueless !!! But have you ever heard of PAP members or even LHL digging into their pockets to pay for all those spending on concerts, dinners, free makan, lucky draw prizes, all over the heartlands community centres ? No right ?

So where the money comes from ? Where is the so called PAP transparency and accountability concerning such matters or are there washed away with the infamous white Pappy soap powder ?

And remember the right to withdraw our CPF savings at 55 ? Whoever gave them the right to suka suka withdraw our right just like that ? And suka suka increase the Minimum Sums as if our wages had a big increment every year ? Did your respective PAP MP come to your door step to ask for your permission to do that ? Why PAP never gave us an option whether we decide to leave or take it in 1 lump sum ? Why PAP never respect that a 55-year old person can make his/her own decisions wisely ?

So now this time round we have no choice but to exercise our vote wisely - that is to tell PAP don't mess or f**k with us anymore OK .... for the sake of ourselves and our future generations !!!

This GE is not about leadership.
      Is about Citizenship!
It me ed 20 ministers out of a total of 89 seats to form the so called Leadership.
Save the rest for your hungrier Oppo who will work harder for us.
That is how we seize back our citizenship and leverage.
Our culture and priority must shape the policy and leaders. Not leaders shape us through bad policies in the name of acting for us on our behalf.
      Let's think about it, carefully.
Our votes are sacred. Not millionaire leaders.

    2. Presently in SG politics, you are either in Power or in Wilderness. One will be blind not to see the huge imbalances in parliament today, even after 50 pathetic years. How can we, as a people not support alternative parties in our backyard yet pretend to heed the call for "diversity and vibrancy" in our working population charged by the ruling party? Do you see the dissonance? And PAP often gravitates towards a discourse of the deserving (them the elite and the Mr-know-it-all of the last 50 years). Do we desire to be led by a gang of "well - meaning" but ultimately self-seeking and advantaged people who have little phenomenological knowledge of the lived-in experience of most of those they think they represent? Thus there is no real attachment between them and us other than slogans of concerns in heartlands kopitiams come election.

Our family are not interested in whether this GE will return the PAP to majority power (though it most likely will). Self interest masquerading as meritocracy no longer fools many people, and there is a real hunger for real egalitarian and communal proposals that will deal effectively with the huge power imbalances and suffering in this so called "democracy'.

Nostalgia does not win elections. Are voters still inclined to support a party based on loyalty or because of previous achievements long gone, relying on the past for its watered-down colours? If so, then the electorate has not progressed beyond their 3rd world mentality. And it says ALOT about the quality of the younger and educated people too. The proof is in the pudding.

    3. The Mr-Know-It-All had devised ("institutionalised") a whole system to " keep majority away from political issues and interests. "

Likely, undergrads of voting age are kept buried under a tons of books by their lecturers with an avalanche of tutorial assignments and papers to hand in.

At work, employees are piled with so much work in the preceding weeks that they can barely find the time even to go toilet.

      So there you have it!

  3. Yes, SIngapores own 911 will be the onslaught of foreign invaders , all 6.9m once the evil empire stormed through their 2/3 power. It is the last door before its shut for the native voters as they are now close to 45+% of population. Any saying of 2/3 core is pure bogus. Ask yourself this, in the last two elections since 2006 and 2011, the population has swelled by 1.5m in the last 8 years. Why didn't PAP tan chuan Jin and now lim swee say do anything to reduce the number? they have 4 years and no thing was done other than slowed down from the previous number?!! And we would be mad to give them another 5 years or 10-15 years to sell us out.

He nomads that come and go are the foreigners who are here to plunder us. Not the local Singaporeans who are working their asses off to provide for their family. And the one in perpetual power for the last 50 years where absolute power absolutely corrupts are the ones that will be more prone to plunder and still justify unashamedly is all done for our own good. Thanks but no thanks.

    What Is Politics

"The actual definition seems to have been obscured and almost lost by such representations and clichés that tend
not to pinpoint the true essence, which defines this thing, called politics.
    ..............
Man is self-preserving by nature. He thinks and acts, whether that is as an individual or as a group who share interests, with foremost regard to his own interests. Self-perpetuation is the number one
rule. He therefore possesses his own interests, ideas and preferences, which may differ to those of his contemporaries."unquote.

    2)
"the stronger parties like WP, SDP and SFP should contest where the NSP is also contesting. These constituencies are gifted to the PAP by the NSP anyway. There is nothing to lose. Just go in and fight for it. Destroy the NSP and the other crap ones like SDA and PPP in order for the stronger opposition parties to have a wider power base to become a government in waiting. This is no time for woolly headed sentiments. Only the stronger opposition parties matters. Winning is everything!"

  8. Independence Day From PAP:
    ==========================

    Dear Singaporeans.
In less than 6 days, Opposition Parties will join from all around Singapore.
And we will be launching the largest election battle in the history of Singapore.

Singaporeans — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 26th of August.
17 days after the 9th of August.
And you will once again be fighting for our freedom & independence.
Not from just tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but from annihilation.
Annihilation by the un-HoLee alliance of Aliens, Traitors and Aristocrats.

We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win on Elections day, the 11th of September will no longer be just another ordinary day.
Instead, it will be the day when Singaporeans declared in one voice:

We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
    We’re going to live on!
    We’re going to survive!

Today, we fight for our rights to live as human beings and not LKY’s digits.
Today we prepare to kick out LHL’s Aristocrats.

We need new brooms and pesticides to do the Cleaning.

Failing to do so means we fail to care for our wellbeing.

    Like to ask Singaporeans this Question;
IS YOUR SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS FROM YOUR OWN HARDWORK
    OR
IS IT GIVEN TO YOU BY THE PAPPIES?

As for myself and my kins and friends,, we work hard for our survivals. No success or achievement to crow about.

Ask ourselves whether we should condone
    CRONYISM
    DESPOTISM
    BETRAYAL and EXPLOITATION?

    1) he says good govt must get good mandate. But 50 out of 89 seats are also good because it still give you 2/3 power in parliament, tio Bo? and if your vote shares is 33.5% it is till a majority! By world standard this is good!

    2) he has been there 40 yrs and he leaves it to residents to decide if he has done a good job. So the vote is once again based on past performance ? Why did you think you were there for 40 yrs for? This is a vote going forward for the new team and not for the old results which you have been duly awarded and paid for in millions already!!

    3) he says "we are our own checks!" Wow wow wow...for someone who has been there 40 yrs and 9 elections, that sure sounds a lot of hot arrogant air which basically translate to mean " we are our own blank cheques and my bank balances!!

    4) no, rooster crows but don't claim they caused the sun to rise. The rooster crows to wake everybody up from their deep slumber / make believe dreams. Because the ones who wake up last would certainly not catch any worms because that foreign talents have already eaten your lunch while you remain deep in sleepland!! The sun however continues to rise or set with or without PAP.

    5) the only PG left in politics because of duty bound?! ha..why not just say you are waiting to be conferred your Minister Mentor title?

    6) the difference between a PAP and WP town council? One will receive massive grants for upgrade buy deny its losing GRCs any grants and subsidies as a silent threat and punish the innocent residents and cry over crocodile tears to the people that they feel sorry and worry about their estate turning into slums!! Not forgetting, they built and ripped off the software that used taxpayer money in a messy handover and cry over how messy WPs data is. Imagine they do this one national scale and IF they were to handover the country or government, will they remove all the govt accounts along with the software and ask you to sort out the accounts in temasek or GIC?!? Think slowly.

    8) he said " if you pay peanuts you get monkeys for your ministers. The people will suffer, not the ,monkeys. "
He is right. The people are still suffering but not the over fed gorillas!!

The people must empower themselves, not the PAP. They have caused enough problems for us because we gave away majority of our rights/votes to them.

PAPs leadership succession is not as important as Singapore's own orderly succession. It MUST function with any party who has the mandate from the people. Just like in UK, it is mostly a healthy rotation and contest between Conservatives and Labour. Occasionally with coalition of smaller parties. We must thus be able to progress to allowing a shadow govt to form. LKY needed only few good men,at most 10 to build the nation. Today they need only 20+ which they have an excessive pool from the current 80 MPs Which can be reduced to 50 that is more than enough. Is never wise to put all our eggs in one basket. They have had more than 50 years to have their next team ready in the wings. Unless is poor planning again, how do they justify they need more time and votes from us now?

    1. In a "profound" op-ed du jour by Chua Mui Hoong of ST, the readers should just ask themselves this instead :-

Is a PAP dictatorship or a stronger opposition better for Singapore. Got it?

That "last chance" before the door slams shut theory is NOT about voting in more entitled dictators aka LKY wanna-be before the restless young voters want change for change sake. But rather, is the last chance before the foreign-invaders-turned-new-citizens will turn native citizens into 3rd class citizens in an irreversible ratio when your votes does NOT make any more difference! Yes, the number is alarmingly tilted and running out of time.

So yes, agree with you. If our grandparents and parents can go through turbulent times, what is that little uncertainty that we couldn't handle? There's nothing to fear and we shouldn't fall prey to their phantom survival issue.

Aiya, haven't you heard a saying by the Chinese?

Even if train for 100 years, a "鸠" can never become a "凤凰"!

By SG100, the narratives probably still about needing more time ...?

Lim BH cry like a baby during 2011. The Chinese say: " 男儿流血不流泪" 。。。。。A real man shed blood, not tears! Unless somebody close died, what is the need to "cry"? Did Lim BH cry over the past 4 years everytime some people whether sinkies or foreign tourists or foreign workers commit suicide due to heavy gambling in the two casinos? If not, what was the tears for in 2011? An outrageous "sob story"?

The Chinese say "real man dun cry for nothing, only 姑娘 does" bcos of their biological makeup .....

Sinkieland needs leaders who only shed blood, and not tears or urine in times of difficulty or fear! Sinkieland can do without leaders who wet their pants in the battlefields in the face of an advancing opponents! Or spin "sob story" to hoodwink and pull wools over sinkies' eyes!

With such ( whimpy or little bit only cry baby ) leaders, no nation can go anywhere, much less a young nation hoping to survive from SG50 to SG100.

      Delete
    3. Ask yourself how many times did you see or hear or read a real leader in China, Japan or the Western world shed tears over the slightest matter or spin and sell "sob story"?

Even after their "Bay of Pigs" fiasco in Cuba in 1962, then President JF Kennedy, Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and the rest of the Kennedy Administration did not shed a single tear drop though the whole incident arose out of their "Group Think"!

In fact, the "Bay of Pigs" fiasco has since become the leading classic example of politicians' "Group Think". However, down the road, looks like it may be replaced by the mother of all "Group Think" examples ....... the new ( "Marina" ) "Bay of (PA)Pigs" fiasco. Yes! Sinkieland's name may be on the world map again! For the wrong reasons! The butts of jokes when westerners gather for a drink! Not dissimilar to throwing billions and billions of sinkies reserves and retirements to buy high during 2007 and sell low during the GFC in 2008/ 2009. The western financial community must be laughing themselves silly of such financial "草包" ......

      Delete
    4. Looks like sinkies' miseries are not going to end anytime soon ......

Also the western political, social and financial world should not lack a steady stream of supply of jokes in the next 50 years emanating from a "shining" red dot from SG50 to SG100. A "shining" red dot (in)famous for being "Special" by giving billions of free all expenses paid scholarships to foreign students from 3rd world when many of their very own sinkie students are like paupers, barely surviving 4 years of undergrad ( miserable ) lives on shoestring pocket allowance, some with parents having to borrow from licensed money lenders or even loan sharks at times of acute financial difficulty just to put some pocket allowance regularly into their Sinkie children's hands to complete their degree.......

Meanwhile, after having lost tens of billions in investment, they made Lim BH ( who cried loudly and uncontrollably like a new born baby in 2011 ) their chairman and yearly remuneration of undisclosed millions and millions. .....

Many sinkies did not realise they are being SHORT-CHANGED brazenly, nakedly and glaringly under broad daylight, as well as excessively, extremely and immensely. A sob story in 2011 sold to sinkies has landed a (shameless, cry baby ) guy ( and scoundrel ) with undisclosed millions and millions of undisclosed remuneration package for the past 4 years and many more ( good ) years ( for themselves and better than Swiss Standard of Living ) going forward. .... Aren't sinkies being short-changed? No?

Any wonder why the word "DAFT" resonates so fittingly side by side with the mention of "sinkies"?

So ironical many sinkies can't find reasons to rejoice on SG50 and found themselves "unwanted" children in their own sinkieland.

By SG100, going by current trend of 6.9m, 10m and even 20m or 30m, sinkies likely could be further pushed down the pecking order from "unwanted children" or "3rd class citizens" to probably "scorned at, sneered at abandoned children" in their own place of birth, by then possibly not even "3rd class citizens" but "economic and social refugees" in their own so called land of birth ......?

All bcos sinkies had "unwittingly sold themselves as slaves to their masters for little bits of crumbs thrown at them"? Or as one of their stalwarts said, "chasing meat thrown at them" ( like dogs )?

      Sinkies are "无药可救"?

The towkay Loong persuaded me to buy paper house to burn for him. I said ok. He suggested also a lexus car. I agreed. Then he asked that I buy paper iphone too. I asked if he knew how to use or not? He said Steve Jobs already there, can teach him to use. I said ok lor. He asked me to buy bluetooth? I said might as well. What about charger? I said need charger meh? HE said of course lah, after battery no power how? So I bought the charger too. Then I asked for his photo. He said why I need his photo? I said I burn for my ah gong. For warranty claim if things break down, my ancestors and ah gong will contact him directly.

So moral of the story. Can claim warranty or not huh?

    1. But just to make sure warranty claims are enforced.
We must have a strong Opposition in Parliament to enforce warranty claims.
